Look at your towing vehicle owner's manual. You should find in there clearly written the capacity of your towing vehicle for maximum weight of trailer, with or without brakes on the trailer and max tongue weight. Make sure to consider that the real weight of the travel trailer is more than what is written in Prolite's brochures considering all accessories, your luggage, water, gaz, food, etc....
In Québec, the law requires brakes on the trailer if it weights 1300 kg or more OR if the trailer weight is more than half the weight of the towing vehicle. This would be the minimum required... think also that having brakes on the trailer increase the safety of the overall rig and decrease brake wear on towing vehicle.
On the down side, you have added cost for the trailer brakes themselves AND the brake controller and wiring for your towing vehicle + added maintenance on the brakes (minimal).
